0Boker 09BO196 Water Sharpening Stone 2000–5000 Double-Sided
The Boker 09BO196 sharpening stone is the ultimate tool for those who demand precision when honing their blades. Featuring a double-sided surface with 2000 grit (medium) and 5000 grit (fine), this stone delivers excellent edge restoration and a polished finish for straight razors, knives, and grooming tools.
The anti-slip rubber base provides stability during use, while water-based sharpening protects the blade and extends its lifespan.
🧼 How to Use
- Soak the stone in clean water for 5–10 minutes before use.
- Start with the 2000 grit side to restore the edge.
- Use the 5000 grit side for polishing and finishing.
- Hold the blade at an angle of approximately 15° and sharpen with smooth back-and-forth strokes.
- Rinse the stone and the blade with water after sharpening.
🧴 Care Instructions
- Store the stone in a dry place after it dries to prevent cracking.
- Do not use oil – this stone is designed exclusively for water use.
- Occasionally flatten the surface with a leveling stone for optimal results.
- Do not leave the stone soaking for extended periods or exposed to direct sunlight.
🔍 Ideal For:
- Straight razors
- Professional and household knives
- Sharpening and honing tools
⚙️ Designed for Rough & Fine Work The dual-grit design combines medium (2000) and fine (5000) grit surfaces: 2000 grit: Ideal for restoring the edge and removing minor nicks or imperfections. 5000 grit: Perfect for honing, refining, and polishing the blade to a mirror-like finish.
🛡️ Safety & Usage Guidelines Keep blades stable during sharpening – applying too much pressure may cause slipping or injury. Store the stone in a safe, dry place and handle with care after use to avoid accidental cuts. Although this model does not include a detailed safety manual, Böker advises basic caution, similar to their other sharpening stones (e.g., risk of slipping, sharp blade contact).

Frequently Asked Questions
A lower grit number (e.g. 220 grit) means a coarser surface that removes material faster — ideal for repairing dull or damaged blades.
A higher grit number (e.g. 8000 grit) means a finer surface — used for polishing and finishing the edge to a razor-sharp level.
Garnet is a group of natural silicate minerals known for their brilliant color, hardness, and wide use in both jewelry and industrial applications.
Garnet is often used as the abrasive material in sharpening stones and sandpapers because of its durability and angular shape. If a tool is labeled as garnet grit or garnet sharpening stone, it means the abrasive component is crushed garnet — excellent for smoothing and honing blades.
