What you need to know about Beard Oil
Undoubtedly, beards are now a feature of most men and it seems they are here to stay! Growing and maintaining them, however, is not always as easy as you might think. It requires attention, care and definitely applying the right products. Among these, of course, beard oil cannot be missing.
What is it?
Beard oil is an oil specifically formulated to care for your beard. Specifically it takes care of its nourishment, hydration and maintenance. In essence, it is a liquid that tries to mimic the natural oils produced by the skin in order to protect both the beard and the skin underneath it. It is usually a mixture of two or more oils, enriched with essential nutrients.
Why should I use it?
As mentioned, to keep the skin healthy it produces some natural oils. Obviously these natural oils are produced up to a certain limit. However, as the beard hairs grow they have requirements, and as a result these limits are exceeded. So after a certain point the hairs grow hard and rough and the skin is not moisturized. That's when beard oil takes over!
Its benefits!
1.Longer beard.
A good quality oil helps the beard grow faster because it takes care of the skin underneath. It contains nutrients that strengthen the hairs and their growth. The oil penetrates deep into the skin resulting in reducing the symptoms of incorrect hair growth. It tries to heal the follicles so that they grow healthy.
2.Smooth and itch-free beard.
Itching is one of those things that make bearded people suffer. It is the most common reason why men choose to shave. Itching is caused due to the lack of natural oils needed as the beard grows. The oil will therefore moisturize the skin and hairs providing a softness that will remove any itchiness.
3.Fighting dandruff
Dryness of the skin is also associated with dandruff. The cause again is the lack of skin oils. So oil is essential! The hydration it will provide will prevent the skin from peeling.
4.Perfect smell.
There are of course odorless oils, but there is also a wide irresistible variety of oil scents! Everyone can choose ,among many ,that smell that suits him and refreshes him. It's like wearing your cologne!
5.Easier care.
Facial hair is harder, which makes it easier to tangle and curl. Thus making grooming an issue especially difficult. However, as we emphasized that oil softens, it makes sense that the beard is less dry therefore easier to manage. The more hydration, the less tangles and the easier styling!
6.No broken ends.
When the ends of facial hair are not moisturized and cared for, they dry out. As time goes by, damaged hairs grow and as a result, breakage is inevitable at some point. In fact, if the hairs remain dry and broken for a long time the only solution will be shaving! Therefore only oil has the potential to prevent breakage as it provides hydration and healthy growth.
Attention to application!
When.
There is no specific time at which you should apply your oil. It's up to you and what works best for you. However, most people advise either after a bath or before bedtime. After a bath the beard is clean and the skin pores are open so the oil can be absorbed better and faster. On the other hand if you apply it before bedtime, there will be plenty of time for it to penetrate the skin without being affected by environmental factors.
How much?
Be careful not to put too much oil on your beard, because the effect can be the opposite, mainly causing severe oiliness. One to two drops once a day is enough. If your beard is long you can put two to three. Of course, the weather also plays an important role. If you live in dry areas you may need to apply twice a day. The same goes for cold winter days.
How?
The key is to make sure that your entire beard is covered with oil. So put the drops in your hand, rub between your palms and then apply from the root of the hair to the tip. Gently massage it from top to bottom in order to spread it everywhere, and on the skin of course. You can also use some beard comb to make sure the oil is applied everywhere!
How to use Beard oil
Using beard oil is a simple and effective way to keep your beard healthy, moisturized, and well-groomed. Here's a step-by-step guide on how to use beard oil:
Cleanse your beard:
Before applying beard oil, make sure your beard is clean and free from any dirt or debris. Use a mild beard shampoo or cleanser to wash your beard thoroughly, and gently pat it dry with a towel.
Dispense the right amount:
Pour a few drops of beard oil into the palm of your hand. The exact amount may vary depending on the length and thickness of your beard, but start with a small amount (2-4 drops) and adjust as needed.
Rub your hands together:
Rub your palms together to distribute the oil evenly and warm it slightly. This will help the oil to spread more easily through your beard.
Apply to your beard:
Starting from the base of your beard, run your hands through the beard hair, working the oil into the roots and then spreading it outwards to the tips. Ensure that the oil is evenly distributed throughout your beard.
Massage your beard and skin:
Once the oil is applied, gently massage your beard and the skin underneath. This will help to stimulate blood flow, promote beard growth, and ensure that the oil reaches the skin to moisturize and nourish it.
Shape and style:
If you have a longer beard, you can use a beard comb or brush to shape and style it after applying the oil. This will help to evenly distribute the oil and give your beard a neat appearance.
Leave it in:
Beard oil is designed to be left in your beard, so there's no need to rinse it out. Allow the oil to absorb into your beard and skin naturally.
Repeat regularly:
For best results, use beard oil daily or as needed to keep your beard moisturized and healthy. Adjust the frequency based on your individual needs and preferences.
Remember, beard oil is not meant to replace regular washing and grooming of your beard. It's a supplement that provides additional moisture and nourishment. By incorporating beard oil into your grooming routine, you can maintain a softer, healthier, and more manageable beard.
