Boker 09BO197 Water Sharpening Stone 3000–8000 Double-Sided
Boker 09BO197 Dual-Grit Water Sharpening Stone – For Fine Honing & Mirror-Finish Polishing
The Boker 09BO197 is a premium double-sided water sharpening stone designed for ultra-fine edge refinement and mirror polishing. With a 3000 grit surface for smoothing and an 8000 grit side for finishing, this stone is ideal for those seeking the sharpest, most refined edge on razors, knives, and precision cutting tools.
The anti-slip rubber base provides a stable and safe sharpening experience, while the water-only design ensures no oil contamination and easier maintenance. Whether you're refining a straight razor or putting the final polish on a Japanese chef's knife, the Boker 09BO197 offers outstanding results.
🧼 How to Use
- Soak the stone in clean water for 5–10 minutes before use.
- Start with the 3000 grit side to smooth and align the edge.
- Switch to the 8000 grit side for final polishing and achieving a mirror-sharp finish.
- Maintain a consistent sharpening angle (approx. 15°) and use smooth, even strokes.
- Rinse both the stone and blade thoroughly after use.
🧴 Care Instructions
- Allow the stone to dry completely before storing in a dry area.
- Do not use oil – this is a water stone and should only be used with water.
- Occasionally flatten the surface using a leveling stone to maintain consistent results.
- Avoid prolonged soaking or exposure to direct sunlight.
⚙️ Designed for Ultra-Fine Finishing
- 3000 grit: Smooths the edge and prepares the blade for final polish.
- 8000 grit: Produces a mirror-like finish and ultra-sharp edge, ideal for traditional shaving or precision cutting.
🛡️ Safety & Handling
- Keep the blade stable while sharpening – excessive pressure may cause slipping or injury.
- Handle the stone and blade with care after use to avoid cuts.
- While no detailed safety guide is included, Böker advises applying the same basic precautions as with all sharpening stones.

Frequently Asked Questions
A lower grit number (e.g. 220 grit) means a coarser surface that removes material faster — ideal for repairing dull or damaged blades.
A higher grit number (e.g. 8000 grit) means a finer surface — used for polishing and finishing the edge to a razor-sharp level.
Garnet is a group of natural silicate minerals known for their brilliant color, hardness, and wide use in both jewelry and industrial applications.
Garnet is often used as the abrasive material in sharpening stones and sandpapers because of its durability and angular shape. If a tool is labeled as garnet grit or garnet sharpening stone, it means the abrasive component is crushed garnet — excellent for smoothing and honing blades.
