    Start small. Grab a dime-sized amount and emulsify it between your palms until it's warm and spreadable. This step matters—cold paste doesn't distribute evenly.

    Apply to nearly dry hair. Work it through blow-dried or thoroughly towel-dried hair. The paste works best when there's just a hint of moisture left—not soaking wet, not bone dry.

    Add more if needed. Got longer or thicker hair? Don't be shy—layer on additional product until you hit the hold and texture you're after.

    Activate the matte finish. Once the paste is dry, brush or comb through your hair. This is what brings out the true matte finish and separates the strands for that lived-in texture.
