The ideal preparation for shaving.

Undoubtedly, preparation is more important even than the shaving itself.

Proper preparation, will help you avoid the most major discomforts that can occur after shaving.

Microcuts, local bleeding, skin irritation and redness cause discomfort for a long time and are phenomena that make the whole shaving experience uncomfortable.

To improve your shaving experience, we want to share our tips with you so that you can enjoy it without any discomfort.

Soften your facial hair.

The most important factor for soft hair and skin is warm water.

Warm water softens the beard making it easier to trim the hair, and it also cleans away the dirt and dead skin that accumulates on the facial hair.

A warm shower before shaving, applying a warm towel to the face, and even simply washing the face with warm water are the best ways to soften your beard.

Take a little time in one of the above procedures to moisturize your skin and the difference will be visible.

Cleanse the face with an exfoliator or facial cleanser.

Combine washing your face with warm water with the use of an exfoliator or facial cleanser, as this will remove dead cells that can prevent a smooth shave.

When using an exfoliator or cleanser, gently massage the face in circular motions and this will remove all impurities.

Cleaner and healthier skin will noticeably improve how easy and comfortable your shave will be.

Use Pre-shave for a deep shave.

Pre-shave products have many benefits and provide another layer of protection for your skin.

They are primarily combinations of natural oils with vitamins, which help the blade glide more easily into the skin guaranteeing a comfortable and deep shave.

They hydrate the skin and protect it from the blade and the irritation it can cause.

They significantly reduce redness and have emollient properties, softening the hairs for an even easier shave without resistance.

Pre-shave products are divided into two types:

Pre Shave Oil

Pre-shave oil helps soften your beard so that the razor can more easily glide across your face.

It also helps reduce so-called razor burn, leaving your skin less prone to irritation and with zero cuts on even the most difficult parts of your face.

The protective layer formed by the oil increases the glide of the razor on the skin, helping to provide a smooth motion, and making shaving a real pleasure.

A good oil spreads and is quickly absorbed by the skin while protecting it, moisturizing it and softening the beard.

Pre Shave Cream/Lotion

Pre-shave cream opens pores and softens hairs before shaving. It needs a very good massage on the face to penetrate and only takes 2-3 minutes to do its job.

It can also be used as an after shave balm.

It is formulated to naturally nourish and moisturize beards and dry skin before and after shaving.

Most (pre shave) creams contain eucalyptus, which helps to rejuvenate the face.

Soak from pre-shave brush.

If you are using a shaving brush made from natural hairs, such as hog or badger, let it soak in warm water for a few minutes to absorb moisture, then let the excess water drip off.

With a synthetic brush, simply dip it in warm water and let it soak there for a few seconds, then take it out and let most of the moisture go, in simple terms shake your synthetic shaving brush gently.

The shaving brush should be damp, but not wet.

This process will help create the best possible lather that will better protect your face from the blade and soften and lift your beard.

You can also check out our guide to shaving brushes to help you choose the right shaving brush for you as well as find your that suits you in the shaving brushes category of our online store.

Make a thick soap solution.

Make circular brush strokes in your soap or shaving cream until a thick lather is formed.

The trick is to use the tips of the brush bristles and not to press too hard.

The right soap makes it diffuse and allows the blade to roll across the face with ease.

Apply the brush soap to your face in a circular motion to gently exfoliate and prepare the bristles for shaving by lifting them up.

If the soap is too dry and not creamy enough, you can add a little water with the brush and try again.

This depends on the type of soap so just add water slowly until you get the desired result.

Be careful not to add too much water because the mixture can easily become too thin.

This can be seen if it barely stays on your face and you constantly need to replenish.

Before you start shaving, leave the foam on your face for 30 seconds so that it can be absorbed by the hairs and soften them even more.
