The term "Two Band" refers to a specific type of badger hair used in shaving brushes. The name comes from the distinct two-tone color pattern of the bristles:
- Dark base (usually black or dark brown)
- Light tips (white or off-white)
These brushes combine soft tips with strong backbone, making them ideal for lathering both shaving soaps and creams.
What Hair is Used in Two Band Brushes?
Two Band brushes are made exclusively from badger hair, typically sourced from the back or sides of the animal. This type of hair provides:

Usage & Care Instructions for Your Brush
🔹 Before First Use:
- Rinse the brush with warm water and a mild soap to remove any residue from manufacturing.
🔹 During Use:
- Thoroughly wet the bristles with warm water.
- Load the brush with soap or cream using circular motions.
- Avoid excessive pressure to preserve the brush’s backbone.
🔹 After Use:
- Rinse thoroughly with warm (not hot) water to remove all soap and lather.
- Gently shake out excess water without twisting the bristles.
- Let it air dry naturally with the bristles facing downward in a well-ventilated area.
What to Avoid:
❌ Do not soak the brush in hot water (this damages the hair).
❌ Do not press the brush too hard while lathering.
❌ Do not store it wet in a closed space (this promotes mold growth).

Instructions of use
- Shampoo the brush in warm water before the first use. Use the same shampoo that you use to wash you hair.
- NEVER boil your brush.
- Never press the brush into your skin. This will break the badger hair. Instead, stroke it sideways, like a painter's brush.
- Wash the brush well with warm (not hot) water after each use.
- Flick the brush to remove as much water as possible after each use. You can also gently stroke it on a dry towel.
- Never store the brush on its base (yes, we know they are flat). Instead, use a brush stand so the remaining water can move away from the base of the hairs.
- To avoid mildew, do not store the brush in the medicine chest between uses. Instead, place the stand on vanity top to allow proper air circulation.
- If you use a brush in a travel kit, be sure to take it out to dry thoroughly upon your return.
