In shaving, “grain” refers to the natural direction in which your facial hair grows. Understanding the grain is essential for a comfortable and irritation-free shave. Shaving with the grain (WTG) is the most gentle, while shaving against the grain (ATG) is the most aggressive but can provide a closer shave. Knowing your grain pattern helps reduce razor burn, ingrown hairs, and nicks.
